Finding Old Episodes
Many old TV shows from the 1940s and 1950s are now lost. This happened because recording technology was different back then. Sometimes, old recordings were even thrown away!
Luckily, a few episodes of The Magic Cottage still exist. One special recording, called a kinescope, is kept at the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Another episode from December 1950 is safe at the Paley Center for Media. There might even be one more episode as part of the Peabody Award collection. These surviving episodes help us remember what the show was like!
