The Merindas are a cool pop music duo from Australia. They are made up of two talented Indigenous Australian singers, Candice Lorrae and Kristel Kickett. They have been making music since the mid-2010s.

Their Music Style

The Merindas are known for their exciting live shows. They include awesome dance moves and cool video projections. They also wear unique outfits that they design themselves. Sometimes, other dancers and a DJ join them on stage.

Their Journey in Music

The Merindas have performed at many music festivals. They have played all over Australia since 2012. Candice and Kristel first met in Western Australia. They later moved to Melbourne to focus on their music careers.

Their very first performance was in 2012. It was for the launch of a movie called The Sapphires. People loved their performance so much! This led to more shows where they sang classic Motown songs. Over time, The Merindas developed their own unique sound. They added influences from pop, dance, and electronic music. Some of their favorite artists who inspired them include Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, and Beyoncé.

In 2014, the duo won an award. It was a West Australian Music Industry Award. They won in the "Outstanding Indigenous" category for their song "Ready to Love." They released another song called "We Sing Until Sunrise" in 2016.

In 2017, they worked with the group Downsyde. They were featured on two songs, "Playing with Fire" and "Nah Nah." These songs were on Downsyde's album ClassicILL. A member of Downsyde, Dazastah, helps produce music for The Merindas. He also sometimes performs as their DJ.

In March 2020, The Merindas started a tour. It was to celebrate their first album, We Sing Until Sunrise. They had shows in Sydney and Adelaide. However, some later shows had to be postponed. This happened because of the special rules during the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia.
