The Mistletoe Farm series is a collection of two exciting books written by the famous children's author, Enid Blyton. These stories take readers on an adventure with two different families learning to live together on a farm.

The first book, Six Cousins at Mistletoe Farm, came out in November 1948. It featured lovely drawings by Peter Biegel. The second book, Six Cousins Again, was published in 1950. This sequel continues the story with the same characters and was illustrated by Maurice Tulloch.

Meet the Characters

The series introduces us to two main families. One family already lives on the farm, and the other comes to stay.

The Longfield Family

  • Jane and Jack: They are 15-year-old twins. They know a lot about farm life.
  • Susan: She is 11 years old. She also helps out on the farm.
  • Crackers: This is their loyal spaniel dog.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Longfield: They are the parents who run Mistletoe Farm.

The City Cousins

  • Cyril: He is 16 years old. He is used to city life.
  • Melisande: She is 14 years old. She also comes from the city.
  • Roderick: He is about 10 or 11 years old. He is the youngest of the city cousins.

What Happens in the Books?

The stories are all about how these two groups of cousins learn to get along. They face many challenges together.

Six Cousins at Mistletoe Farm

This book starts when the Longfield family gets a surprising phone call. Their uncle's house in the city has burned down. Because his house was not insured, he needs help. He asks the Longfields to look after his three children.

The Longfield kids are a bit worried. Their cousins from the city are used to a very different life. At first, it is hard for them to get along. The city cousins find farm life very new and sometimes difficult. But as they face problems on Mistletoe Farm, they start to change. They learn how to live in the countryside. Most importantly, they learn to become good friends with their cousins.

Six Cousins Again

In the second book, Cyril, Melisande, and Roderick have moved. They now live on a modern farm nearby with their parents. Their mother, Rose, finds it tough to be a farmer's wife. Their father, David, also has many problems with the farm. The children also struggle to settle into their new home. This book shows how they continue to adapt to country life.
