The Olympicks is an American music group. They create and write hip-hop songs. The group started in 2009. Today, it has two members: J-Fab and Knoxville.

They are from Detroit, Michigan. The Olympicks have helped make many hip-hop albums. These include projects for famous artists like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Big Sean. They are known for their unique sound.

How The Olympicks Started

In the mid-2000s, each member of The Olympicks was already making music. They were part of Michigan's independent music scene. This means they made music without big record labels.

Knoxville and J-Fab became well-known. This happened after Knoxville produced a song for Jim Jones. J-Fab also produced music for the artist Stat Quo. These projects helped them get noticed.

Working Together as a Team

The Olympicks wanted to be a "one-stop shop" for music. This meant they could handle all the music production for any artist. Each member brought a different skill to the group.

  • Knoxville is like a "crate-digger." He finds old music recordings. He uses parts of these old songs, called "samples," to create new beats. His sound often includes soul music and classic breakbeats.
  • J-Fab also uses samples from records. But he adds pop and techno sounds. This helps him create many different types of music.
  • Flawless (a past member) made popular R&B and Pop beats. These sounds are often heard in today's mainstream music.

Big Projects and Partnerships

The Olympicks have worked with many artists. They have helped both famous musicians and newer, local artists. They were involved in Big Sean's early music career.

The group also works closely with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group. They signed a deal to produce songs for Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records. They also produced a song called "Out Of This World" for A$AP Rocky.
