The Power Station
Established 2011
Location Dallas, Texas
Type Not-for-profit contemporary art space

The Power Station is a special place in Exposition Park, Dallas where you can see amazing modern art. It's not a regular business; it's a "not-for-profit" art space. This means it focuses on sharing art with everyone, not on making money.

The building itself is very old and interesting. It used to be a power plant for Dallas Power & Light, built way back in 1920. Now, it's a cool place for big art shows. The building's original, rough style actually makes the art look even better!

For each big art show, The Power Station works with the artists. They often create a special book or publication about the art project. They also have a summer art program and other fun events throughout the year. There's even an apartment inside the building where artists can live while they create their art.

History of The Power Station

The Power Station was started in 2011 by Janelle and Alden Pinnell. They wanted to create a unique place for art in Dallas. The very first artist to show their work there was an American artist named Oscar Tuazon.

Summer Art Programs

Every summer, The Power Station has special programs. These programs are about learning, talking, and showing art and culture. They are a great way to explore different ideas about art.

One past program was called Four Nights, Four Decades: A Survey of Video Art from the 1970s to the 2000s. During this event, experts showed video art from different time periods over four evenings. Another program was Amarillo Entropy. This show featured artworks, old items, and discussions, all focused on the city of Amarillo, Texas.
