The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a super exciting collection of 13 detective stories about the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. How Sherlock Holmes Returned
This book was first published in 1905. It was the first time new Sherlock Holmes stories had been collected since 1893. Back then, in a story called "The Final Problem", it seemed like Holmes had died.
But people really loved Sherlock Holmes! They wanted more stories. So, the author, Arthur Conan Doyle, felt a lot of pressure to bring the character back.
The first story in this collection explains how Holmes came back to London in 1894. It also tells what he was doing between 1891 and 1894. In the very last story of the book, Holmes's friend Dr. Watson says that Holmes has retired. He also mentions that Holmes told him not to publish any more stories. But don't worry, two more collections and another novel about Holmes came out later!
