The Sparky Book (annual) facts for kids
The Sparky Book was a special yearly book for children. It was published every year starting in 1966. This book was connected to the popular children's comic called Sparky.
Each Sparky Book was given a date for the year it was meant for. For example, the very first book, published in 1966, was dated as the 1967 edition. This was a common way to date annuals.
The Sparky Book: Early Years
For many years, up until the 1975 edition, The Sparky Book had a special subtitle on its cover. It said "for boys and girls." This showed that the book was made for all young readers.
Sparky and The Topper Comics
The Sparky comic joined with another well-known comic called The Topper in 1977. Even though the comics merged, The Sparky Book annuals kept being published for a few more years on their own. The very last Sparky Book was the 1980 edition.
However, the story didn't quite end there! The 1981 edition of The Topper Book was given a new title: The Topper and Sparky Book 1981. This meant it was a joint book, bringing together characters and stories from both the Sparky and The Topper comics. It was a fun way to celebrate both comics in one big annual.
