The Third Jungle Book facts for kids
The Third Jungle Book is a collection of exciting new stories. It was written by Pamela Jekel in 1992. The book features Mowgli, a boy raised by animals, and his jungle friends. These characters were first created by Rudyard Kipling in his famous books, The Jungle Book (1894) and The Second Jungle Book (1895).
Pamela Jekel wrote these stories to sound like Kipling's original style. She also added more details about how animals behave and what their bodies are like. This was a new feature compared to Kipling's first stories.
About The Third Jungle Book
The stories in The Third Jungle Book follow Mowgli's life in order. They begin when Mowgli is a baby, learning the rules of the jungle. They end after he has grown up, gotten married, and started a family. Even as an adult, Mowgli still stays in touch with his animal friends.
Inspiration for Stories
Some of the stories in this book were inspired by Kipling's original ideas. For example, "Where the Elephants Dance" is based on Kipling's story "Toomai of the Elephants".
Other stories, like "The Mad Elephant of Mandla" and "Jacala, Tyrant of the Marsh," came from small hints Kipling left in his story "Red Dog". Kipling mentioned some of Mowgli's adventures that he never wrote himself.
