The Two Bullies is a fun children's picture book from 1997 by Junko Morimoto. It tells a story based on an old Japanese folktale called Ni-Ou and Dokkoi. The book is about two very strong men, one from Japan and one from China, who are known as bullies because of their strength. They plan to fight each other, but some funny things happen that stop them. In the end, both men are secretly happy they didn't have to fight!
About the Story
This book introduces two incredibly strong men. One is from Japan, and his name is Ni-Ou. The other is from China, and his name is Dokkoi. Both men are famous for their amazing strength. They are so strong that people call them "bullies" because no one can stand up to them.
One day, Ni-Ou hears about Dokkoi, the strong man from China. Dokkoi also hears about Ni-Ou, the strong man from Japan. Each man thinks he is the strongest in the world. They decide they must meet and fight to see who is truly the most powerful.
A Funny Journey
As they travel to meet each other, both Ni-Ou and Dokkoi start to feel a little nervous. They hear stories about the other man's incredible strength. These stories make them wonder if they are really strong enough to win.
Along their journey, some very funny things happen. These events make both men realize that maybe fighting isn't the best idea. They start to think that perhaps they don't need to prove who is stronger after all. The story shows how they find a way out of the fight, much to their secret relief.
