Thomas Eastoe Abbott was born in a town called East Dereham in Norfolk, England. His parents were John and Susannah Abbott.

He worked for the government's tax office, called the Inland Revenue, for many years. He also helped lead a school in Darlington, called the Royal Free Grammar School.

A writer named William Hylton Dyer Longstaffe said that Abbott's poems were "written with great simplicity of language." This means his poems were easy to understand. Longstaffe also said they showed "genuine patriotism and Christianity," meaning they were about love for his country and his faith. He even compared Abbott's style to that of another famous poet, Wordsworth.

Thomas Eastoe Abbott passed away in Darlington in 1854.
