A Career in Politics

Thomas Holland was also very active in politics. He was chosen to represent Dartmouth in the House of Commons. This meant he was a Member of Parliament (MP), helping to make laws for the country.

He was first elected as an MP for Dartmouth in 1593. Later, he was elected again in 1604 and 1614, showing that the people of Dartmouth trusted him.

Holland also served as the Mayor of Dartmouth in 1597. The mayor is the head of the town government.

Helping Dartmouth

Thomas Holland had a strong connection to Dartmouth. He rented land and buildings from the town. He also lent large amounts of money to the town government, which helped Dartmouth with its finances.

Family and Later Life

Thomas Holland was married and had at least one son and one daughter.

He made his will in November 1618. A will is a legal document that says what should happen to a person's money and property after they die. Thomas Holland died by March 9, 1619, when his will was officially accepted.
