Thomas grew up in Sandefjord, a town in Norway. His father, Yngvar Numme, was also a famous entertainer. Thomas studied media at Volda University College. This helped him learn all about how TV and radio shows are made.

He started his career at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). He worked on P3 radio and helped create shows for young people. In 2003, Thomas moved to another big TV channel called TV 2. This was a big step in his career!

At TV 2, Thomas became a household name. In 2003, he co-hosted the very first season of Idol in Norway. He worked alongside his friend Harald Rønneberg. Thomas Numme and Harald Rønneberg won the "TV personality of the year" award from Se og Hør readers. They received this award in both 2006 and 2007. This showed how much viewers loved them!
