Thomas Richardson, 2nd Lord Cramond (born June 19, 1627 – died May 16, 1674) was an English politician. He lived at Honingham Hall in Norfolk. From 1660 until he passed away in 1674, he was a member of the House of Commons, which is like a part of the government where laws are made.

Early Life and Family Connections

Thomas Richardson came from an important family. His father was Sir Thomas Richardson. His mother was Elizabeth Hewitt.

His grandfather was also named Thomas Richardson. This grandfather was a very important judge and even led the House of Commons as its Speaker.

Thomas Richardson's grandfather had a second wife, Elizabeth Richardson, 1st Lady Cramond. She was given the special title of Lady Cramond. It was decided that this title would pass to her stepson, which was Thomas Richardson's father. However, Thomas's father died in 1645. So, when Lady Cramond passed away in 1651, the title of Lord Cramond went directly to Thomas Richardson. This made him the 2nd Lord Cramond.

Political Career

Thomas Richardson became a Member of Parliament (MP) in 1660. An MP is someone elected to represent people in the government. He was chosen to represent the area of Norfolk in a special meeting of Parliament called the Convention Parliament.

He was re-elected in 1661 to another Parliament known as the Cavalier Parliament. He continued to serve as an MP for Norfolk until he died in 1674. This means he was involved in making laws and decisions for England for many years.

Personal Life

Thomas Richardson married Anne Gurney. She was the daughter of Sir Richard Gurney, 1st Baronet.

Thomas and Anne had a son named Henry. Henry later inherited the title and became the next Lord Cramond.

The family's estate, Honingham, had been sold in 1650 to a person named Richard Baylie.

Thomas Richardson passed away in 1674 when he was 46 years old.
