Early Life and Education

When Thomas was 14 years old, he started studying at St John's College, Oxford. This was on November 5, 1591. Going to a university like Oxford was a big deal back then, showing he had a good education.

A Career in Politics

In 1601, Thomas Russell was chosen to be a Member of Parliament for an area called Worcestershire. Being a Member of Parliament meant he helped make decisions and laws for the country.

A few years later, on May 11, 1603, he was given the special title of "Sir" (knighted). This was an honor from the King. In 1604, he became the High Sheriff of Worcestershire. This was an important job where he was in charge of keeping law and order in Worcestershire.

Later, in 1610, Thomas and his son, William, were given a special role. They became the "Masters of the Game" in a place called Malvern Chase. This meant they were in charge of managing the hunting and wildlife there.
