A Soldier's Story

Thomas de Grandison was a military leader during a time when England was often at war with France. In 1370, he led a group of English soldiers in northwest France. However, his forces were defeated by a French army near a place called Château de la Faigne. During this battle, Thomas de Grandison was captured by the French.

Later that same year, in 1370, he received a very high honor. He was made a Knight of the Garter. This was a special group of knights chosen by the King of England, Edward III, for their bravery and loyalty. It is one of the oldest and most respected honors in England.

Later Years

Thomas de Grandison was married to Margaret of Caru. They did not have any children. He passed away on November 1, 1375.
