Muhammad Thoriq Husler (born 19 April 1963 – died 24 December 2020) was an important Indonesian politician. He served as a leader in his home region.
About Thoriq Husler
Thoriq Husler was born on 19 April 1963, in a place called Palopo, which is in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. He grew up to become a well-known figure in Indonesian politics.
His Role as Regent
From 17 February 2016, until he passed away on 24 December 2020, Husler was the 2nd Regent of East Luwu Regency. A Regent is like a mayor or governor for a specific area, responsible for leading the local government and helping the community. East Luwu Regency is located in the South Sulawesi province. Husler was a member of a political group called Golkar.
Re-election and Public Support
On 9 December 2020, the people of East Luwu Regency voted again. Thoriq Husler ran for re-election to continue his work as Regent for a second time. He ran with Budiman Hakim as his running mate, which means they campaigned together as a team. In this election, Husler and his running mate received a lot of support, getting 86,351 votes. This was about 53% of all the votes, showing that many people wanted him to continue leading.
His Final Days
In December 2020, during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, Husler became unwell. He was first taken to Grestelina Hospital for care. As his condition became more serious, he was moved to Wahidin Hospital in Makassar. Sadly, Thoriq Husler passed away at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital in Makassar on 24 December 2020. He was 57 years old.
