The Tilly Foster Farm Museum was a special place in Brewster, New York. It was like a living history book, showing what farm life was like. The museum closed its doors in December 2013.

For a while, a group called The Society for the Preservation of Putnam County took care of the farm. But in 2014, they gave the farm back to the Putnam County Government. The county government still owns the land today.

Rare Farm Animals at Tilly Foster

The Tilly Foster Farm Museum was famous for its collection of rare farm animals. These animals were special because they were not commonly found anymore. It was a great chance to see them up close!

Some of the unique animals that lived there included:

  • Randall Cattle: A rare type of cow with a striking black and white pattern.
  • Donkeys: Friendly animals known for carrying loads.
  • American rabbits: A large and historic breed of rabbit.
  • Pilgrim geese: Geese that can be told apart by their color – males are white, and females are gray.
  • Indian Runner ducks: Ducks that stand upright and run instead of waddle.
  • Narragansett turkeys: A heritage breed of turkey known for its calm nature.

Sadly, all these rare farm animals were sold and moved from the farm after the museum closed.
