Tina Eliassi-Rad is a computer scientist from America. She is a special professor at Northeastern University. Her work combines artificial intelligence (AI), network science, and applied ethics. AI includes things like data mining and machine learning. In 2023, she won the Lagrange Prize. She received this award for her important work on making AI fair and safe for everyone.

Her Early Life and School

Tina Eliassi-Rad studied computer science. She went to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In 1993, she earned her first degree there. Later, she moved to Illinois. She started a new program at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

She then went back to Wisconsin for her advanced studies. There, she worked on "intelligent agents." These are like smart computer programs. After finishing her studies, she joined the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She worked as a researcher there.

Her Work and Career

In 2010, Eliassi-Rad became a professor. She started teaching at Rutgers University. Later, in 2016, she moved to Northeastern University. She became a full professor there in 2020.

She is part of the Network Science Institute at Northeastern. This group studies how different things connect. She also teaches a special class. It is called "Algorithms That Affect Lives." This class helps students understand how computer rules impact people.
