Tohato's Journey
A Fresh Start
In 2003, Tohato faced some money problems. They had tried running a golf course, but it didn't work out. To help the company, two other companies, Unison Capital and Bandai, stepped in. They bought Tohato's snack business. They created a new Tohato company. This helped Tohato get back on track and make snacks again!
Fun Advertising Campaigns
In 2007, Tohato launched two new super spicy snack brands. These were called "Tyrant Habanero Burning Hot" and "Jorquia Bazooka Deadly Hot." To promote them, they created a super cool advertising game!
This game combined online gaming with mobile phone ads. Customers could join nightly battles in a virtual game. They would play for their favorite spicy snack brand. The goal was to find out who would win the "World's Worst War."
A Japanese ad agency called Hakuhodo designed this campaign. It was very creative and won an award in 2008. This was one of the first times mobile phone ads were recognized for being so innovative!
