Tohato Inc. (株式会社東ハト, Kabushiki-gaisha Tōhato) is a Japanese company that makes many kinds of yummy snacks. They are especially famous for their Caramel Corn snack, which they have been making since 1971.
Tohato's Story
In 2003, Tohato faced some financial difficulties because of a golf course they owned. But other companies, like Bandai, stepped in to help. They worked together to create a new Tohato company, making sure it could keep making its popular snacks. Thanks to this help, Tohato was able to get back on track and continue its business.
Fun Advertising Campaigns
In 2007, Tohato launched two new super spicy snack brands: "Tyrant Habanero Burning Hot" and "Jorquia Bazooka Deadly Hot." To get people excited about these snacks, they created a special advertising campaign.
This campaign combined online gaming with mobile phone ads. Customers could join nightly online battles in a virtual game. They would choose to fight for either the "Tyrant Habanero" or "Jorquia Bazooka" snack team. These battles helped decide the "World's Worst War" winner. This creative campaign was designed by a Japanese ad agency called Hakuhodo. It even won an award in 2008 for being a great example of mobile advertising.
