Thomas John's Football Journey
Thomas John was born in Port Talbot, Wales. He started his football journey in the youth team at Hereford United. A youth team is where young players learn and train before they might play professionally.
Playing Career
Thomas was one of five young players who received a special "scholarship" from John Layton. A scholarship helps talented young athletes get training and education.
He made his first professional appearance for Hereford United in a League Cup game against Aston Villa. He came into the game in the last minute.
After leaving Hereford United, Thomas decided to stop playing football professionally.
Becoming a Coach
In 2017, Thomas John joined the Southampton academy. An academy is a special training center for young football players. At Southampton, he became the "schoolboys strength and conditioning lead." This means he helped the young players get stronger and fitter.
After five years at Southampton, in 2023, he moved to Arsenal. At Arsenal, he became the "lead academy performance coach" for players aged 9 to 16. In this role, he helps these young players improve their skills and reach their full potential.
