Early Life and Education
Tom Warner went to the University of Florida. He studied business and earned his first college degree, called a bachelor's degree, in 1970. After that, he continued his studies in law. In 1973, he earned a law degree, which is called a Juris Doctor (JD). This degree allowed him to become a lawyer.
His Work in Government
Tom Warner started his career in public service in the Florida House of Representatives. This is a group of elected people who work together to create and vote on laws for the state of Florida. He served as a representative for the 82nd district from 1992 to 1999. During this time, he helped make decisions that affected people all over Florida.
After his time in the House of Representatives, Tom Warner took on a new and very special role. In 1999, he became the very first Solicitor General of Florida. Think of the Solicitor General as the state's main lawyer who argues important cases in higher courts, like the Florida Supreme Court or even the U.S. Supreme Court. He held this important position until 2002.
