The movie Tomiris is a historical drama about a powerful queen. It tells the story of Queen Tomiris, who ruled the ancient Massagetae people around 600 BC.

This exciting film was released in September 2019. It shows how Queen Tomiris led her nomadic people to victory. They fought against Cyrus the Great, the ruler of the Achaemenid Empire, when he tried to invade their land. The movie's story is based on writings by the ancient historian Herodotus.

The film was directed by Akan Satayev. Aliya Nazarbayeva was the producer. It was made by Kazakhfilm Film Studio, with help from Sataifilm. The movie cost about 2.259 billion tenge, which is around 6.5 million US dollars. It was filmed in Kazakhstan and runs for 155 minutes.

Tomiris was very popular in Kazakhstan. By the end of October 2019, it had earned 480 million tenge (about 1.2 million US dollars). It was shown over 800 times across the country. The movie was also considered for a Golden Globe award in the Foreign Language Film category. In 2020, it won the Nouveau Genre Great Prize at France’s L’Étrange Festival.
