Tomoya Kanamori (金守 智哉, Kanamori Tomoya, born April 2, 1982) is a former professional Japanese football player. He was born on April 2, 1982, in Ise, Mie, Japan. Tomoya played as a defender, which means his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals.

Tomoya Kanamori's Football Journey
After finishing high school, Tomoya joined a football club called Oita Trinita in 2001. This club played in the J2 League, which is a professional football league in Japan. He worked hard but did not get to play in any matches during his first two years.
Moving Up with Oita Trinita
In 2002, Oita Trinita won the J2 League championship! This meant they were promoted to the J1 League for the 2003 season. The J1 League is the top professional football league in Japan.
Tomoya made his first professional appearance on April 23, 2003. He played as a substitute defender in a J.League Cup match against Kyoto Purple Sanga. However, this was his only match for Oita Trinita that year.
Playing for Other Clubs
Later in 2003, Tomoya moved to Okinawa Kariyushi FC on a temporary loan. This club played in the Japanese Regional Leagues, which are lower-level leagues.
In 2004, he returned to Oita Trinita. He played in two more J.League Cup matches but did not get to play in the main league games. In October 2004, he moved to Ehime FC, a club in the Japan Football League.
Becoming a Regular Player at Ehime FC
At Ehime FC, Tomoya quickly became a regular player. He played as a center back, which is a key defensive position. In 2005, Ehime FC won the Japan Football League championship! This win meant they were promoted to the J2 League, just like Oita Trinita had been.
Tomoya continued to play many matches for Ehime FC until 2009. However, his chances to play became less frequent from 2010 onwards. He did not play any matches in 2011. At the end of the 2011 season, Tomoya decided to retire from professional football.
