Tomoya Uchida (内田 智也, Uchida Tomoya, born July 10, 1983) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder. Uchida spent most of his career playing for Japanese clubs, especially Yokohama FC. He also played for Omiya Ardija and Ventforet Kofu. Towards the end of his career, he played in Hong Kong for Southern District FC. He retired from professional football in September 2017.

Early Career and Yokohama FC

Tomoya Uchida was born in Komono, Mie, Japan. He was born on July 10, 1983. After finishing high school, he joined Yokohama FC in 2002. This club played in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football division.

Uchida quickly showed his talent. He started playing in his first season. By the summer of 2003, he became a regular player. He played as an offensive midfielder.

Rising to the Top League

Even though Yokohama FC had some tough seasons, they worked hard. In 2006, the team won the J2 League championship. This was a huge moment for the club. It meant they were promoted to the J1 League for the first time ever. The J1 League is Japan's top football division.

Uchida played in many matches during this exciting time. However, the team struggled in the J1 League. They finished last and were sent back to J2 after just one year.

Moving to New Clubs

In 2008, Uchida moved to Omiya Ardija. This team played in the J1 League. He played many games over three seasons there. However, he was not always a starting player.

In 2011, he joined Ventforet Kofu. He did not get to play as much at this club.

Returning to Yokohama FC
