Discovering Tower Hill Park

Tower Hill Park is a special spot in Minneapolis. It's a great place to explore and enjoy nature, even though it's right in the city. The park's design makes it feel like a peaceful escape.

The Famous Water Tower

One of the most exciting things about Tower Hill Park is the Prospect Park Water Tower. This tower is super tall, almost 1,000 feet (about 305 meters) above sea level! This makes it one of the highest points in the entire Twin Cities area.

The water tower has a strong concrete base, an open viewing area at the top called a belvedere, and a green-tiled roof that slopes steeply. From the park, you can see the water tower watching over a small pump house on the park's northwest side. It also overlooks tennis courts on the southwest side and the curvy streets of the neighborhood nearby.

What You Can Do at the Park

The higher parts of Tower Hill Park have lots of trees, making it a great place for a shady walk. As you go downhill, the trees slowly turn into open grassy areas. These grassy spots are perfect for playing games, having a picnic, or just relaxing on a sunny day. The park's mix of trees and open lawns offers something for everyone to enjoy.
