Tracy Flannigan is a filmmaker who makes her own movies. She lives in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles. Tracy started making movies when she was seventeen years old. She has created many short films and music videos. Her work has been shown at film festivals across the United States. Some of these include South by Southwest and Seattle International.

Early Film Work

Tracy Flannigan wrote a full-length movie script called The Late Great W.J.. This script won an award at the Squaw Valley Community of Writers.

Making Documentaries

Tracy's first full-length documentary movie was Rise Above: A Tribe 8 Documentary. She spent five years making this film. She filmed the lives and performances of Tribe 8, an all woman band.

Rise Above has been shown all over the world. It won the top award for Best Documentary at Frameline. This is the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Tracy also won the Kodak Emerging Talent Award at Outfest. This is the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

Editing and Producing Movies

Besides directing and producing, Tracy also worked as an editor. She edited documentary TV shows and movies for HBO and Netflix. She even helped edit parts of the movie Moonage Daydream (film).

Tracy worked closely with Brett Morgen as a Co-Producer on “Moonage Daydream (film)” in 2022. This movie is a special film that explores David Bowie's creative and musical life. They also worked together on “Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck” in 2015.
