Trevor Maxwell Ringland was born on November 13, 1959. He is from Northern Ireland. He is known for being a lawyer, a former professional rugby player, and a politician. He was even a co-chairman of the Northern Ireland Conservatives political party for a year. Trevor went to Larne Grammar School and then studied law at Queen's University Belfast. He also speaks for a group called Uniting UK.

Trevor Ringland's Rugby Career

Trevor Ringland was a talented rugby player. He played 31 games for the Irish national team. During these games, he scored nine tries. Most of his games were in the Five Nations tournament. He also played in the 1987 Rugby World Cup.

Playing for Ulster and Ballymena

Besides playing for Ireland, Trevor also played for Ulster. He was also a player for Ballymena. In 1983, he went on a tour to New Zealand. He was part of the famous British & Irish Lions team.

After Retirement from Rugby

After he stopped playing professionally, Trevor continued to be involved in rugby. He coached at Ballymena. He also became a committee member for the Irish Rugby Football Union. In his later years, he played for a team called the "Dream Team" at Belfast Club CIYMS. This team was made up of former senior players.

Life Outside of Sport

During Trevor Ringland's time, rugby was an amateur sport. This means players were not paid to play. So, Trevor also worked full-time as a lawyer. He worked for a company called Macaulay and Ritchie.

Community Work and Awards

In 2006, Trevor became a member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board. This board helps oversee policing in Northern Ireland. He was also a director for several organizations. These included Independent News & Media and Mediation Northern Ireland. He also worked with The Ireland Funds.

Trevor is very active with Peace Players International. This group uses sport to bring people together. They help promote unity between different religious groups in Belfast. In 2007, Trevor and David Cullen won an ESPY Arthur Ashe for Courage Award. This award recognizes people who show courage and make a difference.

Trevor Ringland received an MBE award in 2009. This award is given for services to the community. He was recognized for his work in Northern Ireland.

Trevor Ringland's Political Journey

Trevor Ringland also had a career in politics. He was a vice-chairman for the Ulster Unionist Party's East Belfast Branch. In 2010, he ran for election in East Belfast. He was a candidate for both the Ulster Unionist Party and the Conservative Party. He finished third in that election.

Joining the NI Conservatives

In 2010, Trevor resigned from the Ulster Unionist Party. He later joined the NI Conservatives. In 2012, he became the vice-chairman (Political) for this party. He also became their spokesperson for social development, culture, and leisure.

In June 2013, Trevor was appointed as a co-chairman of the Northern Ireland Conservatives. He shared this role with Irwin Armstrong. He was mainly in charge of the party's political plans. He served in this role until July 2014.
