Becoming Queen

Tribhuvana Mahadevi III was married to King Sivakara III. After her husband passed away, his brother's wife, Tribhuvana Mahadevi II, became queen. This earlier queen had support from her own father, who was a king from another land.

In 896 AD, something big happened. Important officials in the royal court helped Tribhuvana Mahadevi III take over the throne. She became the new queen, replacing her sister-in-law. When she became queen, she took on very important titles. These included 'Paramabhattaraka', 'Maharajadhiraja', and 'Paramesvan'. These titles showed that she was a supreme ruler, a great king of kings, and a powerful lord.

Her Reign and Qualities

Queen Tribhuvana Mahadevi III was highly respected. People praised her for being kind and generous. She was also known for her good manners, grace, and beauty. She was even admired for her bravery.

She was a very religious person. She followed the Vaishnava tradition, which is a branch of Hinduism where people worship the god Vishnu.

Royal Actions

One important record of her rule is called the Dhenkanal Charter. This document tells us about a special gift she made. She gave a village named Kontaspara to an astrologer named Bhatta Jagadhar. An astrologer was someone who studied the stars to predict the future or understand events. The queen gave him this village for a very specific reason: to help bring rain and prevent deaths. This shows how important she believed it was to care for her people and their well-being.

End of Her Rule

After her reign, Tribhuvana Mahadevi III was succeeded by her late husband's sons. These were Shantikaradeva III and Subhakaradeva V. They continued the rule of the Bhauma-Kara dynasty after her.
