Trinidad (which means Trinity in Spanish) is a district in the Itapúa Department of Paraguay. It is very famous for its old Jesuit Mission. This mission is called La Misión de la Santísima Trinidad de Paraná.
In 1993, the mission was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it is a very important place recognized around the world. Tourists can visit this amazing mission today.
Where is Trinidad Located?
Trinidad is located in Paraguay. You can find it on Ruta 6ta. It is about 30 kilometers (18 miles) north of Encarnación. Encarnación is the main city of the Itapúa Department.
Trinidad is surrounded by several other districts. These include Jesus and Hohenau to the north. To the east, you will find Nueva Alborada and Hohenau. To the south, it borders Nueva Alborada and Capitán Miranda. Finally, Capitán Miranda is also to the west.
How Many People Live in Trinidad?
According to a study from 2002, Trinidad had 6,873 people living there. This study was done by the General Directorate of Statistics, Surveys, and Censuses.
About 35% of these people lived in the main town area. That's about 2,417 people. The other 65% of the population lived in the rural areas. This means 4,456 people lived in the countryside around the town.
