Troy Taylor's Early Football Journey
Troy Taylor started playing football in Alice Springs. He played for the South Alice Springs club in the Central Australian Football League (CAFL). He was a very talented young player.
Getting Noticed by AFL Clubs
Troy's skills caught the eye of big AFL clubs. The Gold Coast Suns Football Club wanted him to join their training squad. This was before they played their first AFL season in 2011.
However, Troy decided not to join the Suns. Instead, he chose to enter the 2009 AFL Draft. This is where AFL clubs pick new players.
Joining the Richmond Tigers
In the 2009 AFL Draft, the Richmond Tigers picked Troy. He was their fourth pick, number 51 overall. This meant he had a chance to play in the AFL.
Playing in the AFL
Troy Taylor made his first AFL game for Richmond in 2010. He played against the Melbourne Demons in Round 4.
Challenges and Leaving Richmond
During his time with Richmond, Troy faced a challenge called homesickness. This meant he missed his family and home in Alice Springs very much. Because of this, he left the club twice. He also left their reserve team, the Coburg Football Club, which plays in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Troy did not return to Richmond for the 2011 season. At the end of that year, the club decided to "delist" him. This means they removed him from their player list.
After the AFL
After leaving the AFL, Troy Taylor joined the Walla Walla Football Club. This club is in the Hume Football League in New South Wales. He played very well in his first few games in 2012.
However, after a trip back to Alice Springs to see his family, Troy did not return to the Walla Walla club.
