A Look Back: Tuckahoe's History
Tuckahoe started a long time ago, in the 1870s. Back then, it was a busy place known as a mining community. This means many people lived and worked there because of mines nearby, likely digging for valuable minerals or metals.
Later, in 1891, a post office was opened in Tuckahoe. A post office is a place where people can send and receive letters and packages. It's an important part of any community, helping people stay connected. The Tuckahoe post office served the community for several years before it closed in 1906.
