Tulsa race riot facts for kids
The Tulsa race riot, sometimes called as the Tulsa massacre, Tulsa pogrom, or Tulsa race massacre, took place on May 31 and June 1, 1921, when a mob of white citizens attacked black residents and businesses in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States.
This is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in the history of the United States. The attack was made on the ground and by air. It destroyed more than 35 blocks of the district. At the time it was the richest black community in the United States.
The riot injured over 800 people with an estimate of over 100 people killed.
