The church was started by a woman named Lady Amelia Shaw. She was the second wife of Sir Robert Shaw. Lady Amelia used her schoolroom for public worship. This was back in 1835.
How Did the Church Building Grow?
The very first chapel building was put up in 1844. Later, in 1866, the church was made much bigger. It was rebuilt and expanded to welcome more people.
