History of the Union Sportsmen's Alliance
How the USA Started
The Union Sportsmen's Alliance began because some leaders saw a great chance to create a new kind of group. In 2007, leaders from the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and various unions decided to work together. They wanted to form an organization focused on conservation and union members.
The USA was officially founded on January 15, 2007. This happened at a big event called the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trades) Show. The show took place in Orlando, Florida.
Growth of the Alliance
Just three years after it started, the Union Sportsmen's Alliance grew very quickly. By May 2010, it became a strong, independent organization. It had more than 20,000 members from all over the U.S. and Canada.
The group continued to grow even more. By the fall of 2013, the Union Sportsmen's Alliance had over 100,000 members. This shows how many people wanted to join their efforts to protect the outdoors.
