Université-de-Montréal station is a Montreal Metro station. It is located in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce area of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) runs this station. It is part of the Blue Line of the metro system. You can find it in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood.
About the Station
This metro station has a standard design with platforms on the sides. It was built into the side of Mount Royal. This makes it the highest station in terms of elevation in the entire Montreal Metro system!
The station has three ways to enter. The main entrance is on Édouard-Montpetit Boulevard. Another entrance is right next to the tunnel that leads to the main building of the Université de Montréal. Both of these open directly into the ticket area. There's also a third entrance on Louis-Colin Avenue. A special walkway connects this entrance over the tracks to the main station area.
Inside the station, you can see two cool artworks. They are made from terra cotta by the architect André Léonard. The biggest one is above the ticket hall. It is called Les quatre éléments (The Four Elements). The smaller artwork is at the end of the walkway from the Louis-Colin entrance.
The station also has MétroVision screens. These screens show news, ads, and tell you how long until the next train arrives.
Why the Name?
The station is named after the Université de Montréal. This is because the station is located right underneath the university's campus.
