Uzi Hitman (Hebrew: עוזי חיטמן) was a super talented Israeli artist. Born on June 9, 1952, and passing away on October 17, 2004, he was a singer, songwriter, musician, and even an actor and TV star. He wrote many popular songs and was loved by many people across Israel.

About Uzi Hitman's Life
Uzi Hitman was born in a place called Giv'at Shmuel in Israel. He lived his whole life in another city nearby, Ramat Gan. His parents had a traditional Jewish way of life. His father was a cantor, which is like a singer who leads prayers in a synagogue.
Uzi and his brother, Chaim, went to regular schools. At home, they listened to all kinds of music. They enjoyed bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, but also religious songs.
How Uzi Started Music
When Uzi was 11, his parents gave him his first guitar. He taught himself how to play it! Later, when he was 17, his grandmother gave him a piano.
From 1971 to 1973, Uzi served in the Israeli army. He was part of a special army entertainment group. This group performed for soldiers and helped keep their spirits up.

Uzi Hitman was married to Aya. They had three children together: Ido, Yoav, and Oded.
Uzi Hitman's Music Career
Uzi's music career really took off in 1976. That's when he wrote a very popular tune for a prayer called "Adon Olam." He became a well-known artist in Israel during the 1980s and 1990s.

Uzi Hitman wrote and composed over 650 songs! That's a huge number of songs. Some of his most famous ones include:

Uzi on TV
Besides writing songs, Uzi also appeared on children's TV shows in the 1980s. He was on popular shows like Parpar Nechmad, Hopa Hei, and Shirim K'tanim. Shirim K'tanim was special because it was the first video set ever released in Israel in 1989.
Uzi and Football
Uzi Hitman was a big fan of the Maccabi Haifa football (soccer) team. He even wrote songs for them! He wrote their championship song in 1993–94, called "Green in the Eyes." He also wrote and performed their 2001 championship song, "Here She Rises."
Remembering Uzi Hitman
Uzi Hitman passed away at the age of 52 due to a heart attack. After a funeral in Ramat Gan, he was buried in the Yarkon Cemetery near Tel Aviv.
To honor him, the city of Ramat Gan renamed a square in his neighborhood. It used to be called 'Roses Square,' but now it's called 'Hitman Square.'
During a football match between Maccabi Haifa and Bnei Yehuda, everyone observed a minute of silence for Uzi. After that, the fans sang the chorus of the championship song he wrote for their team. It was a special way to remember him.
