How Vätterstads IK Started
Vätterstads IK was formed in the middle of 1967. It was created when two other local teams decided to join together. These teams were IK Stefa and Vättersnäs IF. They combined their players and resources to form one new club.
Playing at Rosenlundshallen
The team played their home games at a place called Rosenlundshallen. This arena is in Jönköping. Later on, this same arena became the home for HV71. HV71 is a very well-known ice hockey team today.
Vätterstads IK played in the Swedish second division. They competed in this league during the 1967-1968 and 1968-1969 seasons.
Becoming HV71
In 1971, Vätterstads IK joined with another team. They merged with the ice hockey part of Husqvarna IF. This new team became what we know today as HV71. HV71 is still an active and popular ice hockey club.
