Vaan is a fictional character from the popular video game series Final Fantasy. He is the main hero in the game Final Fantasy XII.

Creating Vaan

When the game Final Fantasy XII was first being made, the creators had a different main character in mind. They originally planned for a strong, older character named Basch to be the hero. However, the game development team decided that a younger, more relatable character would be better. This is why they chose Vaan to be the main character instead. They believed Vaan would be more popular with players.

Vaan's Voice Actors

Many video game characters have different voice actors for different languages. In the English version of Final Fantasy XII, Bobby Edner provides Vaan's voice. For the Japanese version of the game, Kouhei Takeda is the voice actor for Vaan.

Vaan's Story

Vaan is the main character you play as in Final Fantasy XII. He is an orphan, meaning he lost his parents when he was young. His parents passed away from an illness when he was 12 years old. He also lost his older brother, Reks, two years before the story of the game begins. To earn money, Vaan helps out his friend Migelo with various tasks. Vaan dreams of becoming a sky pirate when he grows up. Sky pirates are adventurers who travel the skies in airships.

Vaan's Ship

In the game Final Fantasy Revenant Wings, which continues Vaan's story, he becomes the owner of his own airship. This airship is named the Galbana.
