Princess Vajira, or Vajirakumari, was the daughter of King Pasenadi and his main queen, Mallika. Stories say that her mother, Mallika, was a very beautiful woman. When Vajira was born, her father, King Pasenadi, was a bit sad because he had hoped for a son. However, Buddha told him that girls can sometimes be even wiser than boys.
