Veinticinco de Mayo is a town located in the central-southern part of Uruguay. It is part of the Florida Department.

Where is Veinticinco de Mayo?
The town is found along Route 76. It's about 6 kilometers (almost 4 miles) east of where Route 76 meets Route 77. A railway line connecting Montevideo and Florida also runs through the town.
A small river called Arroyo Isla Mala flows near the town. This river flows into a larger one, the Arroyo Santa Lucía Chico. The Arroyo Isla Mala creates a lake or wetland area on the eastern side of Veinticinco de Mayo.
A Look at History
The town's first name was "Isla Mala." It was officially recognized as a new populated area on September 1, 1875.
On July 17, 1918, its name was changed to Veinticinco de Mayo. It was also declared a "Pueblo," which means a village. Later, on January 28, 1985, its status was upgraded to "Villa," meaning it became a town.
