Verónica Echegui was born in Madrid, Spain, on June 16, 1983. Her father was a lawyer, and her mother worked for the government. She knew she wanted to be an actress from the age of eight. However, her parents wanted her to study a different career.
Later, she moved to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. While studying, she worked as a waitress and walked dogs to support herself.

Verónica Echegui was discovered by a Spanish director named Bigas Luna. He cast her in the 2006 film My Name Is Juani. In this movie, she played an 18-year-old girl who moves to Madrid to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. For this role, she was nominated for a Goya Award for Best New Actress. The Goya Awards are very important film awards in Spain.
In 2009, she became known to audiences in the UK. She appeared in Bunny and the Bull, a spin-off film from the TV show The Mighty Boosh. She played a waitress in the movie.
In 2012, she played different kinds of roles. In Six Points about Emma, she was a strong blind woman. In Half of Oscar, she played a quiet sister. And in Icíar Bollaín's Kathmandu Lullaby, she showed great passion as a teacher helping children in Nepal.
In 2018, Verónica Echegui made her first appearance on American television. She was in the FX series Trust. She played Luciana, one of J. Paul Getty's girlfriends.
In 2020, she played a tough police officer named Norma in the film Unknown Origins. Norma also loved cosplay, which is dressing up as characters.
