Vicente Barbieri facts for kids
Vicente Barbieri was an important poet from Argentina. He was born in Alberti on August 31, 1903. He was part of a group of writers called the "Generation of '40." This group included many talented Argentine authors from that time.
Vicente Barbieri wrote several collections of poems. One of his well-known works is El bailarín (The Dancer), published in 1953. He also worked as a director for El Hogar magazine in 1955 and 1956. During the same years, he was the president of the Sociedad Argentina de Escritores (SADE), which is a society for Argentine writers.
He passed away on September 10, 1956, at the age of 53. After his death, he received the National Prize of Poetry. This award recognized his great contributions to poetry.

- El río distante (Relatos de una infancia) (The Distant River: Stories of a Childhood) from 1945. This book was prose, meaning it was written in regular sentences and paragraphs, not like poems.
- Desenlace de Endimión (Endymion's Outcome) from 1951, another prose work.
- Facundo en la ciudadela (Facundo in the Citadel) from 1956. This was a theatre play.
- After he passed away, some of his collected poems were published in a book called Obra poética (Poetic Work) in 1961.
