Vicki Susan O'Halloran (born 20 June 1964) is an Australian businesswoman and community leader. She worked for many years helping people in the Northern Territory. From 2017 to 2023, she served as the 22nd administrator of the Northern Territory.
Early Life and Career
Vicki O'Halloran was born in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia. She went to Smithton High School and Devonport Community College. She started her career working with children. She was an education officer and child care director.
In 1989, she moved to Darwin, Northern Territory. There, she studied at Charles Darwin University. She earned a degree in Children's Services. In 1993, she joined Somerville Community Services. This organization helps people in the community. She became the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) in 1998. She led the organization until 2017.
Role as Administrator
The Administrator of the Northern Territory is like a representative. They represent the King of Australia in the Northern Territory. It is a very important role. The Administrator helps connect the local government with the national government. They also support community events.
On October 31, 2017, Vicki O'Halloran became the 22nd Administrator. She took over from John Hardy. She served in this role until January 30, 2023. During her time, she met many people. She also attended many important events.
Awards and Recognition
Vicki O'Halloran has received several important awards. These awards recognize her hard work. They also show her dedication to helping others.
In 2014, she became a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). This award was for her service to people with disabilities. It also recognized her work for the community.
Later, in 2019, she was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). This is a higher honor. It recognized her outstanding service to the Northern Territory. It also honored her work in the disability sector.
In 2023, she received the Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO). This award is given by the King. It recognizes personal service to the Monarch.
