Vicky the Viking is a fun live-action movie from 2009. It is a comedy based on the popular Vicke Viking children's books. These books were written by Runer Jonsson. There was also an animated TV show called Vicky the Viking.
The movie first came out on September 9, 2009, in Munich, Germany. It was very popular and earned a lot of money. In Germany, almost 5 million tickets were sold.
About the Movie
The Story of Vicky
Vicky (Jonas Hämmerle) is a young boy who lives in a Viking village called Flake. His father, Halvar (Waldemar Kobus), is the chief of the village. Halvar is a very strong and big warrior. He believes that muscles are the most important thing.
Vicky, however, is small but very clever. He always tries to show his father that being smart is just as important as being strong. One day, something terrible happens. The village of Flake is attacked! All the children, including Vicky’s friend Ylvi (Mercedes Jadea Diaz), are kidnapped. Only Vicky manages to escape.
So, Vicky, his father Halvar, and the other Vikings from Flake set off on a journey. They want to rescue the kidnapped children. They soon find out that the kidnappers are Sven the Terrible and his pirate Vikings. Sven is looking for a special treasure. To find it, he needs help from a child who has never told a lie.
During their adventure, the Flake Vikings meet a young Chinese girl and a funny bard (Michael Herbig). Together, they work to outsmart Sven. They manage to rescue the children and even find the treasure! But the treasure is not as big as they thought it would be. They all return safely to Flake.

What Happened Next?
Because the first movie was so successful in Germany, a sequel was made! It is called Wickie auf großer Fahrt. This second movie came out in Germany on September 29, 2011.
The sequel was shown in 3D, which made the adventure even more exciting. Most of the original actors returned for the second movie. However, Michael Herbig, who played the bard, was not in it. The sequel was directed by Christian Ditter.
