Vincent Denne was an English politician who lived from about 1628 to October 1693. He was a member of the House of Commons, which is a part of the English Parliament. He served there in 1654 and again from 1681 to 1685.
Early Life and Family
Vincent Denne was born around 1628. His father was Thomas Denne, who lived in Canterbury. His mother was Susan Honeywood. Her father was Arthur Honeywood, from a place called Lenham.
Vincent Denne became a lawyer. He held a special legal position called a sergeant-at-law. This was a very important job for lawyers in England at that time.
Political Career
In 1656, Vincent Denne was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for Canterbury. He served in a government assembly known as the Second Protectorate Parliament. This was during a time when England was not ruled by a king.
Later, after the king was back in power (this time was called the Restoration), Denne was again elected as an MP for Canterbury. He served in Parliament from 1681 until 1685.
Later Life and Legacy
Vincent Denne passed away in October 1693. At the time of his death, he owned a property known as Denne Hill.
He was married to Mary Denne, who also came from Denne Hill. Together, they had four daughters.
