About Vivian Walsh

Vivian Walsh has a special way of telling stories. When she lived in New York City, she got ideas from the busy city life. She created characters that were like people with jobs. For example, her Mr. Lunch books are about a dog who has a business chasing birds! This shows how she makes everyday life funny.

Later, Vivian Walsh moved to San Francisco. Her stories then started to explore new ideas. She wrote about how different people can become friends and work together. Her book Gluey tells the story of a bunny and a snail. They become friends even though one is very fast and the other is very slow. This teaches us about accepting differences.

Vivian Walsh often works with her husband, J. Otto Seibold. He is an illustrator, which means he draws the pictures for her books. Together, they have made many popular books. Their book Penguin Dreams was even named one of the "Best Illustrated Books" by the New York Times.

Their book Mr. Lunch Takes a Plane Ride won a special award called a Cuffie Award. This award was for the most memorable character in a lead role. Their most famous book, Olive, the Other Reindeer, became a New York Times Bestseller. It was also made into a TV special that was nominated for an Emmy Award.
