Walter Forbes was the son of James Ochoncar Forbes, who was the 17th Lord Forbes, and his mother was Elizabeth Hunter.

Military Service

When he was younger, Walter Forbes joined the Coldstream Guards. This was a very famous part of the British Army. He was one of the youngest officers to fight in a huge battle called the Battle of Waterloo. This battle happened in 1815 and was a very important event in history.

Building Forbes Castle

After his time in the army, Walter Forbes started a big project. In 1815, he built a brand new home called Forbes Castle. This impressive castle is located in a place called Alford, Aberdeenshire, in Scotland.

Family Life

Walter Forbes was married twice.

    • Montagu Ormond Forbes.

Walter Forbes was laid to rest in Brompton Cemetery, which is a famous cemetery in London, England.
