Walter Scott Story was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. His father, Benjamin Franklin Story, was a printer from Vermont. His mother was Rebecca Jennie Turner from Michigan. Walter went to public schools in his hometown.
Early Life and Career
In 1895, when he was 16, Walter started his first job. He worked as an office boy at an insurance company in Springfield. On February 27, 1908, he married Margaret Helena Healy. By 1918, they were living in Westfield, Massachusetts. Walter had become a secretary to the company's president.
From 1923 to 1942, Walter lived in East Orange, New Jersey. He worked in New York City as a manager for another insurance company. His first wife, Margaret, passed away in 1937. On March 14, 1940, he married Elsie Martha Wolcott. They made their home in Maplewood, New Jersey.
A Life of Writing and Work
Walter was also an editor for his company's employee magazine. It was called the Mutual Circle. He worked on it from 1942 to 1946. Walter was a member of the Republican Party. This is one of the main political groups in the United States. He also belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution. This group is for descendants of people who fought in the American Revolution. He was also part of the Authors League of America, a group for writers. Walter was also a Mason. When he died, he was living in Chatham, New Jersey.
