Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe (born on October 18, 1985), known to many as Wande Coal, is a famous Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is well-known for his unique voice and exciting music style, which mixes AfroPop, Afrobeats, and R&B.

Early Life and Education

Wande Coal was born in Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria. His parents are Chief Ibukun Olufunto and Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe. He was the first of two children in his family.

Wande Coal started his school journey at Staff Nursery and Primary School in Ijanikin, Lagos State. He then went to Federal Government College ijanikin Lagos for his secondary education. After that, he studied Human Kinetics at the University of Lagos (Unilag) in Lagos State.

Music Journey

Wande Coal began his music career singing in his church's teenage choir. He first became known in the Nigerian entertainment world as a dancer.

Joining Mo' Hits Records

In 2006, Wande Coal signed with Don Jazzy's music label, Mo' Hits Records. This was a big step for him! He was featured on D'banj's album Rundown/Funk you up, singing on songs like "Loke" and "Why Me".

As part of Mo' Hits Records, he was also a member of the Mo' Hits Allstars group. He played a key role in their album called CV (which stands for Curriculum Vitae). His song "Ololufe" from that album became very popular. Many people called it one of the best love songs ever made by a Nigerian artist. Later, Wande Coal released his first solo album, Mushin 2 Mo' Hits. This album was a huge hit in Nigeria, the UK, and the USA.

Awards and Recognition

Wande Coal's talent was quickly recognized. In 2010, he won the Best R&B/Pop Single award at the Hip Hop World Awards. He also won the African Artiste Of The Year award at the Ghana Music Awards in the same year.

New Beginnings: Mavin Records and Black Diamond

Between 2012 and 2015, Wande Coal worked with many other Nigerian artists. These included Phyno, Davido, and Wizkid. In 2012, after some changes at Mo' Hits Records, Wande Coal joined Don Jazzy's new music label, Mavin Records. Other artists like Dr SID, D'Prince, and Tiwa Savage also joined Mavin Records.

Wande Coal left Mavin Records in November 2013. He then started his own music label called Black Diamond Entertainment. In November 2013, he released a single called "Baby Face".

Recent Music

After a break, Wande Coal released his second album, Wanted. In December 2017, he dropped a single called "Tur-Key Nla". He started 2020 with a new song titled "Again". In 2021, he released another single called "Come My Way". In 2022, he was featured on rapper Olamide's song "Hate Me". He also re-released his popular album "Mushin2Mohits".
