Warwick Prize for Women in Translation facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Warwick Prize for Women in Translation is a special award that started in 2017. It celebrates amazing books written by women from around the world. These books must be translated into English. They also need to be published by a company in the UK or Ireland.

The main goal of this prize is to help more people read books by women authors from different countries. It wants to make sure their stories and ideas are heard. The prize is for many types of books. This includes exciting fiction, beautiful poetry, or true stories (non-fiction). It can even be for books written for kids or young adults!

Only books written by a woman can win. It doesn't matter if the translator is a man or a woman. The prize money is £1,000. This money is shared between the author and the person who translated her book. If the author is no longer alive, the translator gets all the money. The University of Warwick helps run and pay for this important prize.
